The current official announcement separates the timed Closed Beta from the later Early Access release.
Use the Steam announcement and store page for the current cohort, download state, and purchase wording. A third-party code seller is never an access channel.
Use the official path to maximize your chance
The official Steam announcement puts the Closed Beta window at 21–23 August 2026. Preordering guarantees access for that window; requesting access through the Steam Playtest or the official community route is not the same as receiving a guaranteed slot.
Start with the official Steam page and the WARDOGS community signup. Check the account, the current announcement, and the exact test dates before treating a missing invite as a client failure.
- Wishlist WARDOGS on Steam using the account you expect to test with.
- Join the official community or Discord from a link published by BULKHEAD or Team17.
- Submit the signup form with the same account identity where the form asks for it.
- Check Steam and official announcements for the invite or activation state.
When the code or queue does not work
Check the account, the test dates, and the exact wording of the error before trying anything else. A key that is already used, an invite sent to another account, or a closed window can look like a broken client.

Test the build like a useful teammate
Closed tests are not only early access to a game; they are a request for better evidence. Record reproducible bugs, note what you were doing when the issue occurred, and respect any NDA or capture rules attached to the current test.
