WARDOGS Season 1 changelog: Pre-Load live 9 September 2026, XP slows 10-20 and flattens from 35, Artillery at Career 90, Heavy Tank at Driver 35.
Season 1 facts from the changelog
The 9 September 2026 changelog is the source: with Season 1 live and Pre-Load open, progression, unlock gates, and moderation all changed.
The changelog also raised Forward Operating Base and Large Hammer vendor prices; the exact figures are in the unlock gates section below, alongside the full driver-track moves.
Levels slow through 10–20, then the curve flattens from 35
The changelog says the old balancing was designed for weekend-long beta tests. The Season 1 curve is built for the live game: levels slow down around 10 to 20, and the curve flattens from 35 onward. The announcement gives the shape of the result — median players will sit around level 20 after 20 to 25 hours of play, and players chasing the big-ticket items, the top 5%, will need to grind.
Concrete band numbers from the announcement, copied exactly:
- XP bands below level 6 are unchanged.
- Level 6: 8,750 to 9,250 XP — roughly 5.7% slower.
- Level 10: 25,000 to 35,000 XP — 40.0% slower, the larger jump the changelog highlights in this stretch.
- The role track XP curve is rebalanced from level 6 upward.
- Each season ships a different XP curve with different item orders.
This is a seasonal XP curve, not a one-off patch value. If you last played during the August or September betas, expect your old leveling pace to feel slower through the mid teens and twenties, then easier after level 35.
Artillery to Career 90 and Heavy Tank to Driver 35
The two biggest vehicle moves put armor behind role track levels, and the changelog notes that level moves stay with their track.
- Artillery Tank unlocks move to Career 90 — the Season 1.0 unlock list moves it up from Career 55.
- Heavy Tank unlock moves from Career 35 to Driver 35.
- The Driver track is rejigged to give a satisfying escalation through attack vehicles.
- Forward Operating Base and Large Hammer vendor prices are raised so they are more of a choice: FOB goes from $2,500 to $7,500, and the Large Hammer from $1,600 to $2,400.
Weighted reports, and cheater bans announced in server
Reporting and moderation get a structural change rather than a tuning pass.
- A new report tracking system is added.
- Reports are now weighted — repeat and bad faith reporters carry less influence.
- Cheater bans are announced in server when match termination is turned off.
- The "kicked from server" message now only appears if you were actually banned.
Server browser and voice chat fixes
Server browsing and communication get their fix batch.
- Server browser filtering is reworked.
- Community server images no longer scale incorrectly.
- The Host a server button now links straight to the hosting page.
- Voice no longer cuts out permanently after a failed join.
- Stale channel rejoins, push-to-talk targeting, and re-login all recover properly now.
- Voice reliability under load is improved, and a visible communication status is added.
Patch 0.11 (rolled out 14 September 2026) goes further in the same area: it splits the browser into Community and Official front ends and removes filtering from the official side. That change is tracked on the WARDOGS Patch 0.11 page; the lines above stay as the Season 1 changelog published them.
Performance and stability fixes
The graphics, crash, and startup fixes from the changelog:
- DLSS Frame Generation can now be turned off without restarting, and the render target pool is configurable.
- Shadow cache refreshes are reduced, cutting hitching when you take control of a character.
- Shadow quality is now clamped to Low on high benchmark scores rather than switched off entirely.
- Two crash paths in the frame generation pipeline are fixed, GPU crash reports carry more detail, and a legacy graphics dependency is removed.
- Fixed a crash from network calls scheduled off the game thread and a crash when closing a chatbox entry tooltip.
- You can now only join a session through presence if you are friends.
- Fixed a crash involving buildables and a crash when firing a weapon whose owner had left.
- Dropped items no longer affect navigation, which claws back a little performance.
- Startup reliability is improved, with clearer messages when something fails early and a route to recovery.
Launch day peaked at 337,000 concurrent players
Steam News reported a launch-day peak of 337,000 concurrent players, with the headline posted on 10 September 2026 at 18:05 UTC. As of 10 SEP 2026 this is the release-day figure only.
The beta peak was 245,000+ concurrent players. That is a different window and a different figure — the two counts stay separate here and are not combined into a player-count trend.
