WARDOGS Update: Season 2 Live, Season 3 Brought Forward

The current WARDOGS release is Season 2, live since 15 October 2026 after a maintenance window from 08:00 to 09:30 UTC. Its official patch notes add four weapons, the Molotov, four vehicles, three buildables, a rain weather preset, and eight Gold Market camos — and state that the Wager Vendor is not available at launch. Update 0.1.2, shipped 30 September 2026, remains the last numbered client patch this site has verified: it fixed the WD-L020 launch crash on Windows 11, closed the cash and XP exploits, and rebuilt the server menu around the DEPLOY flow. This page is the running log: it refreshes after every official update, and the URL never changes. Its newest entries are post-launch: the blue-team cash and XP bonus that shipped with Season 2 was removed again by the emergency update of 16 October 2026, and on 17 October 2026 Bulkhead said Season 2 had not delivered the intended fresh start, that it is looking at significantly bringing forward Season 3, and that no reset will happen this weekend.

The 0.1.2 changes are quoted from the official patch notes of 30 SEP 2026 as reported by TimeSaver. Season 2 is documented in the official Season 02 Patch Notes of 14 OCT 2026, and went live 15 OCT 2026 after the announced 08:00–09:30 UTC maintenance window; the Wager Vendor is explicitly not available at launch. The IR Rangefinder and CWIS balance changes are confirmed in BULKHEAD's official Steam news of 3 OCT 2026, and the device returned in Season 2 battery-powered. The 2 OCT Security & Stability hotfix is also official, with a one-hour downtime window from 08:00 UTC and no itemized fix list published. The blue-team cash and XP bonus that shipped with Season 2 was removed by the emergency update of 16 October 2026, per the reporting of 16–17 October 2026 (PCGamesN, Rock Paper Shotgun, PlayGround.ru); the Driver progression fix named in the same statement is confirmed without published figures.

01
01 / CURRENT STATUS

Season 2 is the current WARDOGS release, live since 15 October 2026

The direct answer: the current WARDOGS release is Season 2, live since 15 October 2026 after a scheduled maintenance window from 08:00 to 09:30 UTC and roughly 90 minutes of downtime. The last numbered client patch this site has verified is Update 0.1.2, shipped 30 September 2026 after a one-hour window at 08:00 UTC. Season 2 is a season release on top of that build, and its patch notes are organised by feature rather than by version number.

Update 0.1.2 was a stability-and-integrity release, not a content drop — no new weapons, no new maps, no economy rebalance in it. What it did was protect the economy the game runs on: it fixed the WD-L020 launch crash on Windows 11, closed the cash and XP exploits from the Season 1 window, rebuilt the server menu around the DEPLOY flow, and carried the studio's hardest anti-cheat language yet. The full breakdown is in the sections below. The timing was not accidental: the studio's own Steam news confirmed 3 million copies sold, and WARDOGS closed the week of 22–29 September as the #2 title on Steam's Global Top Sellers list (per timesaver.gg's patch report). An integrity patch is what a breakout shooter ships when its economy has to stay trustworthy.

Season 2's own notes then delivered the content: four new weapons with new attachments, the Molotov, a battery-powered Infrared Range Finder, heavier Level 3 and Level 4 helmets, four vehicles, three buildables, a rain weather preset, eight new Gold Market camos, and a set of match and server systems. The one item the notes flag as not in the build at launch is the Wager Vendor, which is listed as opening later in Season 2 — that record is on the Season 2 page. Two things have changed since launch and are logged below: the blue-team cash and XP bonus that shipped with Season 2 was removed again by the emergency update of 16 October 2026 (section 07), and the studio's 17 October 2026 statement put an earlier Season 3 on the record (section 08).

This page is the permanent update log for the site. Every official patch gets its own dated section below, the newest on top of the detail order, and the URL stays /update/ so a bookmark never goes stale. For the live server picture between patches, the server status page is the companion read.

02
02 / CRASH FIX

The WD-L020 launch crash is fixed

If WARDOGS refused to launch and threw a WD-L020 error, the cause was not your hardware. BULKHEAD identified it in the patch notes directly: the issue was caused by the latest Windows 11 cumulative update, KB5124010, which changed something the game's launch path depended on and produced the hard crash on affected machines.

Update 0.1.2 patches the game side of that interaction. After taking the update, the crash should be gone — and if you had been running one of the manual workarounds, including uninstalling KB5124010, you can drop it now. The full history of the error, the developer's 23 September reply, and the old workaround path stay on the unable to launch page, which now treats the official fix as the resolution.

03
03 / ECONOMY

The cash and XP exploits are closed

This is the core of the patch. Since the early-access launch, a handful of exploits let players inflate Cash and XP far faster than intended, and Update 0.1.2 closes them one by one:

  • Revive rewards are now fully server-authoritative. Validity checks for revive actions moved server-side, reducing the possibility of revive abuse across the map.
  • The vehicle fly-through exploit is capped. Rewards from flying vehicles through the payout trigger are now limited, killing the payout.
  • Buildable-destruction rewards now scale with build progress. Destroying a freshly placed schematic no longer pays a full reward.
  • Out-of-zone FOB pallet deposits pay less. Depositing pallets into a FOB outside the zone now awards reduced rewards, pushing that activity back into the contested area.

The design intent is consistent: Cash should flow to players inside the fight, not to those gaming reward logic from the edges of the map. Just as important for everyone else: no wipe happens in this patch. The Season 1 economy and your progression are intact, and the wipe stays tied to Season 2.

04
04 / ENFORCEMENT

The hardest ban stance BULKHEAD has published

The patch notes carry the studio's strongest enforcement language so far. Anyone caught abusing Cash & XP exploits — or worse, doing Real Money Trading — has had their cash and progression reset and now risks a permanent ban without warning. The notes state plainly that the leniency shown to first-time offenders during Season 01 is over.

This page reports the policy; it does not describe a way around it. The practical reading is simple: the exploit door is closed, the accounts that used it have already been reset, and repeat offences are now a permanent-ban risk rather than a slap. Enforcement details can change with any patch — the official announcement remains the source to re-read.

05
05 / SERVER MENU

The server menu is rebuilt around DEPLOY

The biggest visible change is the new DEPLOY flow, which replaces the old server menu with a direct choice between Official, Community, Infantry Mode, and Low-Level servers. Two of those options are the point of the redesign:

  • Infantry Mode removes the power vehicles — tanks, ATVs with guns, APCs with rockets or miniguns, and armed Havoc and Little Bird helicopters. Humvees with guns and Lakotas with miniguns are still present.
  • Low-Level servers let hosts set a maximum level cap (Level 20 is the given example), so newer players get a lobby that is not stacked with max-level accounts.

Around the new flow, the browser itself got the missing basics: advanced filters on the Official list, full-length server names restored (hover shows the full name instead of a truncated one), a "connecting" state with your queue position when joining, region select showing how many regions are active, and gamepad support on the DEPLOY screen. Server admins get scheduled daily restarts (UTC), RCON AllowedHosts restrictions and message caps, and a warning that names padded with "A0"-style prefixes must change or be de-listed. Stability hotfixes and increased server security against DDoS attacks round out the patch.

06 / HOTFIX · 2–3 OCT

IR Rangefinders out until Season 2, CWIS corrected

The two balance moves are now on the official record. In its 3 October 2026 Steam news post, BULKHEAD confirmed both directly — no new client download and no server downtime are required; they take effect within 12 hours as each region's servers restart. The studio wrote that it agrees with player sentiment and that the IR Rangefinders cross the line into being too overpowered.

  • IR Rangefinders are disabled at the vendor until Season 2. When they return in Season 2 they will require batteries to use. Season 2 is now live as of 15 October 2026, and the device returned battery-powered, with a battery lasting around 80 seconds of active use (section 07).
  • The CWIS now destroys a Havoc in about 6 seconds, down from 12. BULKHEAD acknowledges the earlier patch overcorrected and hotfixed it that morning. Update 0.1.2 itself had already increased the damage the Havoc takes from 20mm and 30mm cannon fire — the CWIS and the Havoc's own cannon respectively.

The base patch also shipped a run of smaller fixes worth knowing about: grenades, smoke, and C4 can no longer be thrown from enclosed vehicle seats (the Humvee exploit); the adaptive crosshair now correctly hides while aiming down sights; buildable critical spots no longer reappear in the same unreachable place after being hit; and localization translations were improved across the board.

Security & Stability Hotfix — 2 October 2026

A separate, earlier hotfix went out on 2 October 2026 at 08:00 UTC, with an expected one hour of downtime. It addressed security and stability issues affecting some players, and BULKHEAD published no itemized list of the fixes.

07
07 / SEASON 02 · LIVE 15 OCT

Season 2 is live: four weapons, four vehicles, rain, and new systems

Season 2 went live on 15 October 2026 after a scheduled maintenance window between 08:00 and 09:30 UTC, with roughly 90 minutes of downtime. The official Season 02 Patch Notes were published in Steam News on 14 October 2026 and are the source for everything in this section.

On content, the notes add:

  • Four weapons — TCX-SPR (assault rifle), PP-19 Bizon (SMG), Evo-3 Ultra (LMG), and M14 (marksman rifle) — plus a new set of optics, muzzle devices, magazines, and bipods.
  • The Molotov, a thrown incendiary that splashes fire on impact, deals impact damage plus damage over time, burns destructible foliage, and is affected by rain.
  • An Infrared Range Finder that runs on batteries — around 80 seconds of active use per battery, draining faster when rapidly toggled — which resolves the device pulled from the vendor on 3 October “until Season 2”.
  • Level 4 helmets with muffled audio, a restricted field of view, and fogging while sprinting, plus increased suppression resistance on Level 3 and Level 4.
  • Four vehicles — Wolf-110, Wolf-110 with a ring-mounted M2, T-72B3 (slower than the L2A6 but cheaper and slightly more fuel-efficient), and the Flakpanzer Gepard.
  • Three buildables — MG Nest, Large Shelter, and Wooden Step.
  • A rain weather preset with visible wetness on surfaces, vehicles and characters, rain audio that differs by surface and by where you stand, rain visually coming through destroyed roofs, server-synchronised thunder loud enough to mask footsteps, reduced spotting range, and reduced Molotov fire.
  • Eight new Gold Market camos across Black & Gold (Little Bird, Season 2 exclusive), Chocolate Chip (Evo-3 Ultra, M14, TCX-SPR), Two-Tone Desert (Galil, Mosin, Havoc), and Digital Wood (M500) — with the Black & Gold AK camo removed.

On systems, the notes add team-switching restrictions once a team is more than 10 points ahead, a victim-driven team-kill Punish & Forgive vote with escalating bans for repeat offenders, a Squad Intent UI, a rebuilt Rebuy Last Loadout flow that pre-fills the vendor with your last kit, server seeding rewards and vendor discounts, pre-match entertainment at each spawn, and region-based ping limits enforced on Official servers.

Emergency update, 16 October 2026: the Blue Team bonus is gone

Season 2 went live on 15 October 2026 with a live team-balance experiment attached to the blue team, Lonestar. Blue-team players were given +5% game currency and +2.5% XP — figures reported by PlayGround.ru. It lasted about a day. Veteran players moved to the blue team, unlocked the stronger gear faster, and the matchmaking advantage shifted with them.

On 16 October 2026 Bulkhead CEO Joe Brummer acknowledged the mistake: PCGamesN's headline quotes the admission “We f***ed up”, the studio's own wording is that Season 2 “got a few things wrong”, and the report confirms the blue-team bonuses were removed by an emergency update. Rock, Paper, Shotgun's headline of 17 October 2026 states the same result — the team-specific cash and XP bonus experiment ended “after a single, tumultuous day”.

The same coverage names the second complaint, Driver progression moving too fast, and reports that the studio is detailing fixes for it. No patch-level detail is published: which values change and by when stay unconfirmed as of 17 October 2026. The event is documented feature by feature in the Blue Team bonus section of the Season 2 page, and the progression loop it concerns is covered on the driver XP guide.

The full feature-by-feature record, including the items the 10 October preview announced but these notes do not restate, is kept on the Season 2 page.

08 / SEASON 3 · 17 OCT

Season 3 is being brought "significantly" forward — no date yet

On 17 October 2026, PCGamesN published the studio's clearest statement yet on what comes after the Season 2 launch, and it opens with an admission: “Season 2 was meant to be a fresh start, and for a lot of you it hasn't felt like one.” Bulkhead says it sped up progression deliberately and now calls that decision “the wrong call” — some players are reaching end-game gear like tier-four armor and MBTs within days, so “the wipe never really landed.”

The forward-looking part is the log entry. Bulkhead says it is “looking at significantly bringing forward Season 3 and some of its content, so you get a proper fresh start.” No date, window, or content list for Season 3 is published, so the timing stays TBA here rather than guessed. Alongside it, CEO Joe Brummer pointed to the “limited” or “primitive” servers (name not final) planned for the mid-season update 2.5: they cap the available weapons, equipment, and vehicles to the lower ends of the progression tree, letting players “choose not to play with power weapons” without the studio having to “nerf or overtune them.”

One thing the statement rules out is an immediate wipe. Bulkhead confirms it “won't be doing a knee-jerk reset this weekend, as that would be unfair on everyone already enjoying the climb.” On balance in the meantime, the studio's line is: “Some things are clearly out of balance and we'll fix them. Others have the community split, so we want to see how those play out first.” The post-mortem on how Season 2 got here is on the Season 2 page, and what this means for the next reset is tracked on the wipe page.

09 / PATCH HISTORY

Patch 0.11 and the history log

Before 0.1.2, the last dated change was Patch 0.11, announced on 12 September 2026 and rolled out on 14 September with about an hour of downtime. That patch split the server browser into separate Community and Official front ends, added text search and persistent server IDs on the community side, paid a one-week +5% settlement cash bonus on community servers, and published the first three-tier enforcement policy for economy abuse.

The 0.11 changes are the foundation 0.1.2 builds on — the DEPLOY rework reorganizes the same browser 0.11 split, and the new ban stance tightens the policy 0.11 introduced. The full dated breakdown stays on the Patch 0.11 page. As future patches ship, their summaries will be added to this log with the newest update detailed above.

10
10 / NEXT UP

Season 2 is live — what the log watches next

The 0.1.2 notes closed with a forward-looking line — Season 02 as a larger content update with new map conditions, equipment, balance reworks, and additional features — and that has now shipped, dated 15 October 2026 and documented in the Season 02 patch notes of 14 October. Two threads already tie Season 02 back to this log: the IR Rangefinder pulled from the vendor on 3 October is explicitly a “until Season 2” removal, and it returned battery-powered; the enforcement reset cleared the economy before the new season's content landed.

What stays open after launch is short and specific. The Wager Vendor is confirmed as unavailable at launch and promised for later in Season 2, with no date attached. Balance numbers for the four new weapons are not published. And the 10 October preview's separate Lonestar team-balance experiment has run its course: it shipped with Season 2 as the blue-team cash and XP bonus and was rolled back by the emergency update of 16 October 2026, leaving only the confirmed-but-undetailed Driver progression fix behind it (detail on the Season 2 page). The biggest open item arrived on 17 October 2026: the studio's statement that it is looking at significantly bringing forward Season 3 — with no date — makes the next season's timing the thing this log watches most closely (section 08). As each of those is confirmed or changed, this log and the Season 2 page are revised with the date attached. For the wider picture between patches, the player count page follows the population trend and the release date page keeps the launch timeline.

How this page is maintained

This is an evergreen page, refreshed within 24 hours of every official WARDOGS update. When a new patch ships, the current-version sections above are rewritten around it, the previous update moves down into the history log, and every figure keeps its date so old numbers are never presented as current. Anything the studio has not confirmed stays labelled as unconfirmed rather than guessed.

If you landed here searching for "war dogs update today", the fastest check is the fact panel at the top: the version number and date there are always the latest ones this site has verified against official channels.
