Compare the best guns in WARDOGS for early testing: assault rifles, SMGs, shotguns, and marksman options, plus a low-risk way to spend cash.
Weapon evidence available now
There is enough footage to discuss roles and a few observed weapons, but not enough verified data for a permanent tier list.
Names and prices above are observations from pre-release gameplay, not a final roster or balance promise. Test the weapon for the range and job you actually play.
Pick by distance, not by rumor
Early WARDOGS testing rewards a practical first loadout: a flexible primary, enough ammunition to finish a route, and one support item that helps you survive the next life. Avoid copying a tier list that does not explain the range or job it is built around.
The Control Zone creates mixed fights. You may start in a compound, cross a road, and then defend a ridge in the same life. A weapon that can handle two of those distances is usually a better first purchase than a specialist tool you only understand in one room.
Current pre-release footage shows an AK and a PP submachine gun, along with magazines, 5.45 ammunition, optics, armor, and medical gear. Those are useful observations for planning a test kit, not a final roster or a promise that the old prices still apply.
Use this early weapon matrix
| PLATFORM | BEST FOR | WATCH OUT FOR |
|---|---|---|
| Assault rifle | Mixed ranges and first deployments | Over-spending on attachments |
| SMG | Buildings, trenches, and fast pushes | Losing value in open ground |
| Shotgun | Doorways and hard room clears | Trying to duel across a field |
| Marksman | Ridges, windows, and overwatch | Leaving the objective to chase angles |
Build a cheap test kit before a dream loadout
Buy one primary, one magazine plan, basic protection, and the medical or mobility item your job needs. Take that kit into two different fights. If the gun solves the range you keep seeing, upgrade it; if not, change the role before you change every attachment.
A good test is not just a kill count. Ask whether you arrived at the zone, held a useful angle, revived someone, or survived long enough to earn the next purchase. Those are the outcomes the economy can actually compound.
- Choose one distance you expect to fight most often.
- Buy the simplest primary that can cover it and keep cash for a second life.
- Record one friction point after the match: recoil, reload, range, or movement.
- Change one variable on the next kit so you know what actually helped.
What can be added when stats stabilize
Once Early Access exposes stable weapon stats and balance patches, this guide can add tested roles, attachment breakpoints, and map-specific recommendations. For the current build, the useful answer is a dated role test—not an invented ranking table.
